Frequently asked questions
Do I accept insurance?
For now I am cash pay only which means I accept payments virtually through the Telehealth software we use for our meetings, please see my ‘services’ page for my offerings and pricing. I am happy to provide you with a superbill if you wish to seek reimbursement from your insurance company for my services.
I do also offer sliding scale pricing for clients who hold marginalized identities and cannot afford the full price of my services–if you feel this is you please fill out my contact form and specify your needs and we can discuss this more in person.
What does it look like to work with you?
Our first meeting will be our longest—anywhere from 60 minutes to 1.5 hours. This allows me plenty of time to get to know you, listen actively to your current struggles with food and body and collaborate together on a treatment plan for our time moving forward. From there I will typically see clients once a week for anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours (it can me more or less frequently depending on that client’s needs and our plan of care).
In our sessions we will talk about the problems you are currently facing around food, body image and general health/wellness from a food perspective. I practice from a weight-neutral/body positive lens which means that our goal is not to shrink the size of your body but address the way you interact with food in your day-to-day life and how this contributes to your health and wellness. I will also likely ask your consent to work closely with your therapist and primary care provider or any other provider we feel necessary to collaborate on a best-fit treatment plan for you as well.
I am also interested in leading group nutrition classes for local organizations in Chico, CA. If this is something you’re seeking please feel free to reach out to me via email and I will be happy to schedule a call to discuss your goals and ideas more!
Can you help me lose weight?
Bodies are complex! I will never guarantee weight loss as a product of our sessions because I do not believe that it is a reliable outcome to improve your health and wellness. That being said, people can sometimes lose or gain weight depending on their individual situation and relationship with food as we address food/feeding and other wellness difficulties. Bodies are meant to change and this is a core tenet of my belief system and practice as a dietitian, if you are seeking a dietitian to assist you with intentional dieting or losing weight then I may not be the right fit and that is okay!
Do I see clients in person?
As of now my practice is 90% remote and 10% in person. I conduct all of my 1:1 counseling sessions via Telehealth. For group classes and meal support/body doubling I can be available in-person for Chico residents.
What if I live outside of Chico?
If you live anywhere in California or Oregon, no problem! I am a licensed dietitian in both states and can provide 1:1 counseling to you via telehealth. If you live in any other state I recommend finding a provider who is licensed to provide services in your state.
How are you protecting my information?
The telehealth software I use for our meetings, charting and most communication is HIPPA compliant and uses encryption to protect your personal information and data. Additionally I have an agreement with google workspace that keeps client data HIPAA compliant as well. Unfortunately e-mail is not one of the aspects of google that is protected under the agreement so please do not send any personal information or identifiers via email. If I ask for any personal information it will be via our meeting platform to keep it safe.
